help for teens
non-residential care
Imagine a 16 year old teen, disrespecting parents, disregarding family rules, showing no respect for authority figures, abusing substances, running away, not attending school regularly, sexually active, and violent with family members. >> read a teen's story
What do parents do? Where do they turn? How can they get help for their teen? This is the reason for House of Hope - Illinois. Through House of Hope, hurts will be healed. families reconciled, and communities strengthened.
Beginning March 1, 2010, we will offer professional counseling services from our Manhattan office by appointment. Professional counseling at House of Hope – Illinois will significantly complement our already existing Biblical lay counseling and mentoring program for teens and parents. A team of state licensed professional counselors specializing in individuals, families, children, and adolescents will be counseling at House of Hope from a biblical perspective. >> Meet the counselors
Our HOPE campus, modeled after the successful House of Hope Orlando in Florida, will initially offer structured non-residential care for boys ages 13-17. Monday through Friday, teens will come on campus to be a part of the non-residential care program consisting of schooling through the ACE program, professional counseling, leadership and life skills instruction, and mentoring. Tuition is based on a sliding scale.

Life Hurts God Heals
Friday nights 7 to 9 PM
Life Hurts God Heals will take teens on a journey which helps them to process and discuss some of life's toughest issues. Life Hurts God Heals (LHGH) is specifically for teens/20s who have experienced pain or addiction including: drinking, cutting, pornography, eating disorders, suicidal thoughts, pills, troubled family dynamics, etc.
The curriculum is biblically based and comprised of 13 lessons. Within these lessons, teens commit to take 8 steps that will help them grow spiritually. For example, one step is for them to admit that they can't do life on their own and that they need God and others.
The 8-steps of the program include:
1: Get help. (Matt. 5:3)
2: Open your heart. (Matt. 5:4)
3: Depend on Christ. (Matt. 5:5)
4: Hear and speak. (Matt. 5:8)
5: Embrace God’s way. (Matt. 5:6)
6: Ask for forgiveness. (Matt. 5:7,9)
7: Live for God. (Matt. 5:3)
8: Share with others. (Matt. 5:10)
